HOLY GOLDENROD CITY ZUBATMAN!!!! I’VE GOT NEWS TO TALK ABOUT!!!!! MY LIFE HAS PURPOSE AGAIN!!!!

*clears throat*

Sorry about that, I’m just REALLY excited. It been quite a while sense I’ve done a legit issue of Pokemon News. And what better way to come back than an entire Nintendo Direct dedicated to Pokemon. In this direct, we got something we expected, and something no one really expected. So without further ado, let’s get right into it.

First up in the Direct was the announcement of the sort of expected “Pokken Tournament DX”. Following in the footsteps of “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s” success, “DX” will be a Switch port of the Wii U fighting game, including all the DLC that has come to both the Wii U and the Arcade cabinets. Not only that though, but “DX” is also getting its out exclusive fighter.

You are seeing that correctly guys, Decidueye is going to be a playable fighter in “Pokken Tournament DX”. Specializing in long range arrow-based attacks, this marks Generation 7’s first appearance on a home console. Not only that, but Litten and Popplio are coming with Decidueye as support Pokemon. It has also been shown that the game will support splitscreen play, since the Switch lacks the tablet controller that the Wii U had.

Team Battles are also being added to Pokken, allowing players to choose three fighters to make up their team. The first team to defeat all three of the oppenent’s fighters wins. Now not only will I be able to enjoy Pokken since I own a Switch, but now I’m torn between Decidueye and Darkrai as my main fighter. “Pokken Tournament DX” will be released on September 22, 2017 worldwide.

This wasn’t the only thing that came out of the Direct though. Shortly after “Pokken Tournament DX’s” trailer, something ultra amazing appeared. It wasn’t Pokemon Stars, and it wasn’t Pokemon Eclipse.

It was “Pokemon Ultra Sun” and “Pokemon Ultra Moon”.

This isn’t just a different version of Sun and Moon guys. This isn’t like Crystal, Emerald, or Platinum. THIS IS A SEQUEL, LIKE BLACK 2 and WHITE 2!!! How do I know that? Because just like Kyurem in Black and White 2, Necrozma is fusing with Solgaleo and Lunala!

Just a bit of a disclaimer before we go any further. It was briefly shown in the press release of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon (USUM) that the games would see some sort of Switch release. This was a clerical error and was corrected. USUM will only be launched on the 3DS

Not much else is known about USUM at this moment. That however hasn’t stop theories and speculations for popping up. Speaking on behalf of the Blackthorn Counsel and Viridian Guild, what we are most excited for is the possibility of new Alolan Variants of Gen 1 Pokemon. Further advancement in the story as well as the inclusion of newly formed Alolan Gyms are also anticipated.

A trip to Kanto in the post game would also be nice…..

And that is all the information that we have to work with. Pokken is coming to the Switch and we have at least one more adventure in Alola that needs to be done. In the comments below, what are you hoping will be added to USUM? I’d like to hear from you guys. Anyway, that’s it for this news issue, and I’ll see you guys in the next issue.
