This is quite the blessing in disguise if I do say so myself. Originally I didn’t think that I would have enough to work with this week, so I was gonna skip it and hope something later on next week is revealed. But guess what? Something got revealed today, so I now have enough to work with. Without further ado, welcome to the 127th issue of Pokemon News with your’s truly, Viger, and let’s get right into it.

Before I get into the bulk of the news, one quick thing first. Pokken Tournament DX is now out for the Switch. So go pick up a copy and hone your skills for battle.

Today, Nintendo released a new video showing off more of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Most of the trailer confirmed certain aspects of the games to remain constant from Sun and Moon while changing them slightly. The Island Trials are still going to be a thing, and this will be the way that you will obtain the Z Crystals, just like last time. However, Mina, the very much looked over Fairy Type Captain, will have a brand new Trial for the player to overcome if they wish to possess Fairium Z. Lillie and how were also briefly shown off in the trailer too, however, Lillie is seen entirely in her second outfit from the latter half of Sun and Moon’s story, which is interesting from a narrative stance. Along with this, USUM will have over 400 Pokemon for you to catch, shaking things up from the last game with new Pokemon from other regions for you to encounter. Certain Pokemon will also be version exclusive, such as Houndoom for Ultra Sun and Manectric for Ultra Moon.

What was also shown off was a new feature for USUM called the “Alola Photo Club”. Here, you can take a wide variety of different pictures with you and your Pokemon, adding in special effects and making you photo even better. Judging by some of the examples shown, there is a lot that can be done with the feature, and I’d love to see what people come up with.

And lastly, call our last Podcast commercial slightly prophetic if you will, but Mantine has been confirmed to be a new Poke-Ride option for getting around Alola. And if you ask me, this feels more like riding Latios over Hoenn than it does anything else.

Taking direct control of Mantine, the player can surf their way to the different islands that make up Alola. On the way, the player can perform various tricks off of the wave that they are surfing on to gain points. The function of these points are currently unknown, but they must be useful someway. The player can also encounter different Pokemon as they literally Surf, just like the Pokemon flocks when flying with Latios in ORAS. Now we are finally using Surf the way it was meant to be.

And that is it for Pokemon News. What are you most excited for from this trailer? Let me know in the comments below. And with that said, I’ll see you guys in the next issue!
