Welcome back to Pokemon News! After quite a long hiatus since USUM’s launch, we’re back with some important news to discuss. Since my absence, it seems not much has changed; the anime podcast hasn’t occurred, Scron has seized control form Thatch yet, everything seem to be ok. So without further ado, let’s get into it.

First up, a mini Nintendo Direct recently occurred, detailing new information about upcoming titles as well as current titles. One game that was covered was Pokken Tournament DX. This new information comes in the form of two new fighters and four new supports character, all of which will be coming in two separate waves of DLC.

In the first wave, our new fighter is someone I’ve been itching to see in the game. That Pokemon is Aegislash!

Yup. The Generation 6 VGC wall breaker enters the battlefield. Aegislash’s fighting stance focuses on Aegislash swinging its sword-body and bashing its opponent with its shield. The footage in the trailer doesn’t show Aegislash using its special move, but stills suggest Aegislash focusing power into its blade and extending it to a far larger form, before crashing it down on the opponent.

Along with Aegislash, Wave 1 contains two new support Pokemon: Mega Rayquaza and Mimikyu.

Mega Rayquaza deals massive damage and can only be used once, and Mimikyu deal smaller damage and inflicts negative status on the opponent.

No other footage was shown of the DLC, but it was confirmed that Wave 2 will introduce Blastoise as a new fighter and two new support Pokemon in the form of Mew and Celebi.

Wave 1 will be available on January 31st, and Wave 2 will be available on March 23rd.

One more bit of news comes from our good friend CoroCoro. It confirms new details about the Sun and Moon anime.

The image reveals several new things for the anime; Ash and the gang take on the roles of “Ultra Guardians” and do battle with various Ultra Beasts across Alola, as well as sporting “Power Ranger-isque” battle suits. Poipole is also shown to be an important part of the team, perhaps being caught by Ash. One last this that is confirmed is that Ash’s Litten will evolve into Torracat.

And that is it with Pokemon News. What do you think of Aegislash and Blastoise in Pokken Tournament? Let me know in the comments below. And with that, I’ll see you guys in the next issue!
