Pokemon News Issue #100 <----------------

Pokemon News

Holy cow guys! Would you look at that? 100! That’s three numbers right there! Hard to believe that I’ve done the news 100 times now, give or take a few breaking news issues here and there. But anyway, welcome back to Pokemon News! And to celebrate the 100th issue, we’ve got new Pokemon for Sun and Moon, a new fighter for Pokken Tournament, and some spicy new anime episode titles that you guys might find interesting. So without further ado, let’s dive right in!

First off, we’ve got two new Pokemon that have been leaked thanks to our good old friend, CoroCoro. And just take a look at them!

Some would say interesting. Some would say creepy. And others would say……..what? Say hello to Kiteruguma (left) and Mimicyu (right).

Kiteruguma is a Normal/Fighting Type Bear Pokemon with the abilities Fluffy and Klutz whose hugs are deadly. People in Alola are scared of Kiteruguma to the point of having warning signs about it. It is really strong and can break anything in two. It likes to hug its trainers but is strong. Raising one puts your life in danger. That’s a challenge I’m willing to take.

Mimicyu is our first Ghost/Fairy Type Pokemon, but don’t let those vacant eyes fool you. Mimicyu’s eyes are actually on the chest. It has the ability False Colors. Mimicyu hates sunlight, preferring dark places. It is rumoured that the cloth covering its body is a strategy to avoid the sun. Don’t try to remove the cloth it is said that those that do become afflicted with an illness. Mimicyu’s costume is based on Pikachu merch that was popular 20 years ago. It wants to be loved by people like Pikachu is. Despite its design and creepy appearance, the internet has actually fallen in love with Mimicyu. I for one wonder if it will evolve at all. Perhaps its possible evolution could show us what is underneath the costume….

…..then again, maybe not…..

Next up, Japan released a new trailer for the arcade version of Pokken Tournament. The trailer showcases the appearance of four new fighters to the arcade version; Garchomp, Braxien, Shadow Mewtwo, and Darkrai.

That’s right players. Weavile is no longer the only Dark Type Pokemon in the game, and now there is a Mythical Pokemon fighter. Darkrai is categorized as a Technique character, using his dark and nightmarish powers to inflict massive damage onto his opponent. He can even make shadow copies of himself that detonate when the opponent comes to close and can even use his own shadow as a weapon. And even his ultimate is the stuff of nightmares. Truly, this is the fighter I’ve been waiting for for this game…well that and Gallade. There hasn’t been any news on when Darkrai will be available on either arcade or console versions of the game, but we will have the Pitch Black Pokemon in no time.

And finally, and most recently, some new episode titles for the Pokemon XY and Z anime have been revealed. Normally, these titles are never something that I report on, but the recent ones that have come up are worth noting. There are three new titles in total, with the last one continuing the conflict with Team Flare that has been put on hold while Ash and Greninja sort things out. But the first two titles are what caught my eye:

Episode 933: The Finals! Ash VS Alain!!
Episode 934: Kalos League Victory! Ash’s Ultimate Match!!

Ep. 933 has Ash and Alain finally face off in the Pokemon League, more or less confirming that Ash and Greninja will defeat Sawyer and Sceptile in their upcoming match next week. Despite this though, its Ep. 934 that has me thinking. Could it be, and this is a stretch, could this be the episode where Ash, at long last, wins a Pokemon League Championship? The way the title is worded certainly leads to that possibility. But what about the pseudo-rule that the anime ends when Ash wins the Pokemon League? Will it still be in effect and Alain wins instead? We will just have to wait and see.

And that is it for the 100th issue of Pokemon News! I’m so happy that the 100th issue had a little of everything when it comes to news in Pokemon. And here’s to many future news issues that will come since Sun and Moon are still several months away. And with that said, I will see you guys next time!
