Pokemon News

Welcome to another issue of Pokemon News. Just a brief update before we get into it, I’m doing a bit of overhaul for Pokemon News. On weeks where news about Pokemon is dry and nothing is there to report on, I will publish a issue of my new series “Nintendo News”, where I will report on all things related to Nintendo. With the Switch coming out the day this news issue is published, I will probably have a lot to report on. Either way, look out for those when they happen. Anyway, let’s get right into the news about Pokemon.

In movie news, the first proper trailer for the next upcoming Pokemon movies has been released. “Pokemon I Chose You” certainly appears to be a recreation of the first season of the Pokemon anime, with this first trailer showing the first time Ash and Pikachu meet each other. It all ends just as the first episode does, with Ash defending Pikachu from a flock of Spearow, and Ho-oh flying over both Ash and Pikachu. This time however, Ho-oh is fully colored and not just a gold color, and the legendary bird drops a Rainbow Feather for Ash. What this feather will do for Ash is anyone’s guess at this point, since the anime bends the rules of Pokemon into their favor. Personally, I think this will be one of the best Pokemon movies ever made (not as good as Rise of Darkrai, of course), and it also opens the door with what any future Pokemon movie could be about. Check out the trailer for yourself, and leave a comment below with what you think about the trailer and the movie. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

In other news, I don’t usually report on this kind of stuff, but the entry reward is pretty interesting. The next Battle Competition for Pokemon Sun and Moon has had its revealed. This Battle Competition is titled “Kanto X Alola Regional Rumble”, and the rules are pretty clear. Only Pokemon from Kanto and Alola can be used. Mewtwo, Mew, Zygarde, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, and Magearna cannot be used in the battles during this competition. Mega stones, and by extension Mega Evolutions, also cannot be used in these battles. Registration begins March 9th and ends on the 16th, with the battles happening the 17th and ending on the 19th. The entry prizes follow the previous Battle Competition, with the prizes being two Mega Stones, this time being Pidgeotite and Steelixite. So if you were having a tough time trying to win the Mega Stones from the Battle Tree (like I am), then these Competitions are a way to fix that. I just need to wait for a competition with Metagrossite as the prize.

*Update* A new mystery gift distribution has just begun. By typing the code “M2DESCENT” in the Serial Code section of Mystery Gift, you will receive both the Mewtwonite X and the Mewtwonite Y Mega Stones for Mewtwo. So according to this new distribution, we can anticipate more Mega Stone distributions in the future.

And that is it with Pokemon News this week. Remember to leave a comment with what you think about the upcoming movie, and I will see you guys in the next issue.
