Once more, we have an exciting issue of Pokemon News this week. We’re getting ever more closer to USUM’s release and we got a nice chunk of new gameplay to examine from USUM. So let’s get right into it.
A brand new trailer for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon dropped yesterday and showcased a lot of new stuff coming to the Alola Region. First up, the Ultra Wormhole and Ultra Space areas of Sun and Moon have been completely reworked. Now just like Mantine Surf, you can ride Solgaleo and Lunala through the wormholes to go to different locations in Ultra Space.
Each new area of Ultra Space is the location of a specific Ultra Beast, instead of just finding them in different areas of Alola, which is a lot more immersive than before. It reminds me of ORAS’s Hoopa Rings when it came to capturing Legendary Pokemon.
One specific place of interest in Ultra Space demand more attention. This is Ultra Megaopolis.
This is the only human inhabited location in Ultra Space, and the place has a heavy Necrozma feel to it. The trailer also informs that Ultra Megaopolis is “a world where Necrozma has stolen the light”. What this specifically means is unknown, but it further questions Necrozma’s motives and actions.
Ultra Megaopolis also introduces a new organization into Alola alongside Team Skull and the Aether Foundation. This is the Ultra Recon Squad.
Residing in Ultra Space and using Ultra Beasts instead of Pokemon, it is unknown what alignment the Ultra recon Squad is on, but if the Aether Foundation showed us anything, its probably not anything good.
Speaking of Ultra Beasts, the Recon Squad showed off a brand new Ultra Beast. Say hello to UB Adhesive.
A Poison Type Ultra Beast, Adhesive looks like the most “Pokemon looking” Ultra Beast so far. “Their large heads are filled with venom, and they fire this venom from the poisonous needles on top of them.” I can see both Scron and Fluffiest losing there minds right now.
The two previous Ultra Beasts that were revealed in the previous Nintendo Direct were also shown off more. First up, UB Burst.
Much to Fluffiest’s dismay, Burst is not our first Fire/Fairy Type Pokemon. Instead, it is a Fire/Ghost Type. “UB Burst tricks targets into letting their guard down as it draws near with its funny gait, swaying this way and that—then shocks them by blowing up its own head without warning. Before they can recover their senses, it steals their vitality, which it’s said to use as a source of energy.” In typical Ghost Type fashion, super creepy. Burst also has access to a signature move, known as “Mind Blown”. The gimmick of this move is that it has serious recoil damage on Burst itself.
Lastly, my personal favorite Ultra Beast, Assembly.
I was right, I was right, I was SOOOOOOOO right. If it had Iron Defense, it had to be a steel type. Not only that, Assembly turns out to be a Rock/Steel Type Pokemon. “While UB Assembly may appear to be made up of stones stacked atop one another, apparently each “stone” is in fact a separate life-form, and this UB is made up of an assemblage of these life-forms.” I can see where people might have thought Assembly could be a Ghost Type, but nope, I’m right, your wrong. 😉
And that is it with Pokemon News! What was your favorite part about the new trailer? Let me know in the comments below. And with that, I’ll see you guys in the next issue.
