Welcome back to another exciting episode of Pokemon News. Today, we’ve got Smash, we’ve got Let’s Go, so without further ado, LET’S GO!
First up, Super Smash Bros Ultimate received a special Nintendo Direct recently with more information about the upcoming fighting game. The big reveals in the Direct involved the inclusion of Simon and Richter Belmont from Castlevania, Chrom from Fire Emblem Awakening, Dark Samus from Metroid Prime 2, and King K. Rool from the Donkey Kong Country series as playable fighters in the game. Along with their announcement, new items, new and old stages, and new assist trophies were showcased as well. But we all know what we’re here for; the new Pokemon.
So first up, reaching high into the sky is Alolan Exeggutor, whose primary function upon release is to use his tall stature as a solid wall, effectively dividing the stage from where he stands.
Next up, we have Mimikyu, who pulls enemies underneath its shroud and does damage. The physical damage is nothing compared to the psychological damage that’s done.
Pyukumuku shows up too, dealing damage to any opponent that enters its proximity with its “innards”….
Abra also teleports in, using Teleport to move opponents around the battlefield, preferably into oncoming hazards.
In a surprise even to me, Ditto emerges from the Pokeball now too. And even cooler is that it transforms into a copy of its user and attacks opponents with the user’s attacks.
Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix also appear in Smash Ultimate, with the Kanto version deal fire damage and the Alolan version dealing ice damage.
And finally, rising up from the shadows is Marshadow, trapping opponents in its shadow and dealing physical damage on them.
No other information was dropped during the Direct, but there is still more to be revealed in the coming months, so stay tuned for any other announcements for Smash Ultimate.
Pokemon Let’s Go was also given a new official trailer. This trailer confirmed recent information leaked from CoroCoro earlier this week, as well as officially revealing Jessie and James of Team Rocket fame.
Not only that, but Lt. Surge and the Vermilion City Gym were also showcased. (I’m already stressing over that puzzle….)
And in a surprise announcement, Mega Evolution will be a part of the game too, with the trailer showing off Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard X and Y, and Mega Blastoise.
I can only assume any other Kanto Pokemon capable of it will be able to Mega Evolve as well. Who knows what other surprises await us with Let’s Go.
And that is it with Pokemon News. What other Pokemon do you want in Smash Ultimate? Let me know in the comments below. And with that, I’ll see you guys in the next issue!
