Pokemon News Issue #44

Welcome to the newest issue of Pokemon News with yours truly, Viger.

In anime news, the long anticipated XY movie, “Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction” will air on Cartoon Network this coming Saturday at 1:30 central time. Having been released in Japan and other Asian countries, as well as being scheduled to air in Canada, this movie will feature the anime debut of many fan favorite Pokemon, including Yveltal, Xerneas, Greninja, and most importantly Honedge, Doublade, and of course, Aegislash. (Can you tell I’m really excited for him in particular.) Perhaps we can meet in the chat when it airs and watch it together as a sort of unofficial PUCL Movie Night. Who knows.

In distribution news, three new Asian distribution events have been announced. The first one is a special South Korean distribution of the Pokemon Pachirisu. This one is modeled after the same Pachirisu used by Pokemon World Champion Sejun Park. The second distribution event is in Japan and involves the Pokemon Shaymin, Victini, and Keldeo. These Pokemon can be redeemed by using codes found in various Pokemon themed food products from around Japan. The final distribution event is also in Japan and involves the Pokemon Jirachi. By buying a special charity wristband from any Pokemon Center in Japan, you can download a shiny Jirachi for yourselves. There are no indications that these events will make their way west, so once again, Japan gets all the good stuff.

In concert news, the Pokémon Symphonic Evolutions Tour has been given another concert date. Following the successful performances in Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, the tour will make its way to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 17, 2015. So if you are in the area, you should definitely attend.

In parade news, the Pokemon Company has announced that a brand new Pikachu balloon will fly during the 88th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, almost a week after the release of ORAS. From a promotional picture posted on the Pokemon Facebook page, the Pikachu balloon depicts Pikachu wearing a green scarf and holding a small snowman shaped like Pikachu. The balloon is also shown alongside other iconic characters like the Pillsberry Dough Boy, a Skylanders figure, and Thomas the Tank Engine, so the parade will be something to see.

That’s it for Pokemon News. See you guys next week!
