Pokemon News Issue #79

Welcome back to another exciting issue of Pokemon News. Today is a bit of a followup from the news of last week as well as other important Pokemon news, so lets dive right in.

In game news, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon is out now in Japan, and Serebii is breaking down all the nooks and crannies of the game as a whole. So if you are interested in how the game functions before its release in the states and other parts of the world, do check it out, but be wary of spoilers.

In Z news, more information has been officially revealed about Zygarde and the new season of the anime following its unofficial reveal last week in CoroCoro. So lets go down the list. First off, Zygarde’s final form has a different name outside of Japan. Instead of “Zygarde Perfect Forme”, it is referred to as “Zygarde Complete Forme”, so it isn’t as Dragon Ball Z’isque as its Japanese counterpart. More information about each forme of Cell…I mean Zygarde, has also been confirmed. The following is a description of each forme that Zygarde can take:

Zygarde Cell: This stage has been identified as the single Cells that make up Zygarde. Cells do not possess any will or thought processes. They’re found scattered throughout the region. Since they can’t use any moves, researchers question whether they can even be called Pokémon!
Zygarde Core: At this stage, this aspect of Zygarde is little more than a part of the Pokémon’s brain. Unlike the Cells, the Cores are self-aware and can communicate with Cells and other Cores via telepathy. When a change occurs in the local region’s ecosystem, Cores have been known to take action.
Zygarde 10% Forme: Zygarde 10% is the Forme that the Zygarde Core takes when it gathers 10% of the Cells nearby. Capable of traveling over 60 mph (100 km/h), it defeats enemies with its sharp fangs and its incredible speed.
Zygarde Complete Forme: This is the perfect Forme that Zygarde takes when the Core gathers 100% of the Cells. When the ecosystem is under threat, and the Core concludes that the 50% Forme will be unable to deal with it, the Core takes on the Complete Forme. Its power is said to be greater than that of the Legendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal!

Sounds like Zygarde is finally getting the buff against Xerneas and Yveltal that it really needed.

Aside from Zygarde, more was also revealed about Ash’s Greninja, literally calling this Greninja “Ash-Greninja”. It describes this form as an appearance that Greninja takes when his bond with Ash reaches its absolute peak. (I smell a mega evolution in the works with another Pokemon.) It is the power of this bond that causes Greninja to take on a similar appearance to Ash, and it is said that this phenomenon has happened only once several hundred years ago, but remains a complete mystery. Could this also explain the eternal flower Floette? And could that mean AZ’s appearance in the anime at some point? Speaking of the anime, a new trailer of the upcoming “Pokemon XY & Z” was also revealed. Major points to highlight are Zygarde, its various formes, Ash-Greninja fighting a Bisharp, Team Flare official being shown in action apparently seeking the power of Zygarde, Alain squaring off with Elite Four member Malva, and finally, Ash and Alain crossing paths. Truth be told, I am absolutely stoked to see the new season when it comes out.

Any who, that’s it for Pokemon News. Let’s keep this hype train going and I’ll see you guys here next week. Shout out to all the guys on the council for the 200th episode. Its going to be awesome!
